Dr. Liu is an internationally recognized leader and pioneer in the subspecialties of gynecological endoscopic surgery and urogynecological laparoscopic surgery. He has developed several gynecological procedures, including laparoscopic bladder neck suspension for the treatment of urinary incontinence, laparoscopic uterovaginal and vaginal vault suspension for the correction of the uterovaginal prolapse, laparoscopic paravaginal suspension for the repair of cystocele, and laparoscopic enterocele repair. His experience includes extensive work in the laparoscopic laser treatment of severe endometriosis, tubo-ovarian reconstruction, and other laparoscopic fertility-promoting procedures. He holds the world record for performing the most laparoscopic hysterectomies and has extensive professional publications and presentations to his credit. Dr. Liu is one of the most sought-after surgeons for the performance of interactive live surgical demonstration at international medical meetings both in United States and abroad. In 2000, he was awarded the prestigious Gynecologic Endoscopic Surgeon in the World for recognition of his achievements and excellence by the European Gynecologic Endoscopic Society.

A graduate of Taipei Medical University, Taipei, Taiwan, Dr. Liu completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. His distinguished board memberships include the Board of Trustees of the American Association of the Gynecologic Laparoscopists; Editorial Board of Gynecological Endoscopy; Medical Advisory Board of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and of the Journal of Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons; Review Boards of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gynecologic Endoscopy, Journal of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the Journal of Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons; and Advisory Board for Innovations in Medical Education and Training. In addition to his contribution to chapters in more than 15 textbooks, Dr. Liu edited the textbook, Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and Pelvic Floor Reconstruction.

Dr. Liu's practice has been devoted exclusively to gynecological endoscopic surgery for the past 21 years. He is founding director of the Chattanooga Women's Minimally Invasive Gynecology and its fellowship program for gynecological endoscopic surgery in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
